TROLLING VALVES - honest mark - 03-10-2025 so i have cummins qsm11 engines, when i am trolling for salmon sumtimes i need to slow the boat more when i am reeling in the fish, while the boat is in gear and i have my trolling valves engaged, going approx 2.5mph , can i take the boat out of gear for like 10 seconds and fight the fish a little and then put the boat back in gear or will i ruin my transmissions, or do you suggest just throwing in trolling bags in and then pulling the bags out? any suggestions????? thank you RE: TROLLING VALVES - jclark003 - 03-11-2025 I dont think you will ruin your transmissions by going into neutral and then back into gear after fighting a fish. Your transmissions probably get more wear from the trolling valves being engaged than going in and out of gear a few extra times. But if you are unsure check with twin disk or zf, depending on what gears you have. |
