Oil pressure gauge, tank indicators - lenoah - 10-13-2025

Hello All,

We have a new to us 2004 3200 Open and need to address a couple issues.

1. The stbd oil pressure gauge does not register.  There is oil pressure but the gauge has stopped working.  My question is: Are there other components to consider beside the gauge and the sending unit (an inline resistor?) that could be an issue?

2.  The fresh water and waste water tank indicators do not work accurately.  Any suggestions?

Thanks very much for any input!

For the oil pressure, I'd start with swapping the wiring from port to starboard to see if its the gauge or the pressure sensor. From there I'd replacing the pressure sender sensor. They are easily accessible and relatively cheap parts.

Water and waste are another story and a pain on almost all boats!

I just finished fixing all the fresh water & waste sensors on mine. Depending on access it’s not a bad job.

Can you tell me what your solution was?  Thanks.

They all had to be cleaned. One had to be replaced.

I did the same on my tank sensors. Disassembled them cleaned, checked for resistance with ohmmeter and replace 2 of the three on the fresh water tank.

Thanks for the replies. Can you tell me where you sourced the parts?

The sensors in the freshwater tank can be different lengths. Marine Parts Source carries both sensors. They are made to be cut to the correct length. If you need technical support or part numbers call Dometic Customer Service at1800-544-4881. The sensors run 80-100 dollars.

A follow up on the oil pressure issue. My mechanic pulled the sending unit preparing to replace it with a new unit. He found that someone had installed the unit using Teflon tape and the tape had clogged the port. Unclogged, reinstalled, problem solved.
