1993 3100 open 454s. Anyone try replacing the carbs with those injector kits?

I wanted to on my 88 3300open but was talked out of it by more than one mechanic. They told me it was just too big of a pain to get it dialed in properly on the older motors. Would love to hear some success stories to help change my mind...
