1988 3300 Open - Voltage drop when lowering engine hatch or honking horn - Pluto - 03-18-2026 Hatch opens right up, but trips if I lower it for more that about 2 seconds at a time. I can see voltage drop down to like 4-6 volts when I try to lower it. The horn is the next switch over, voltage will drop to 4-6 volts if I honk it. Is there a common ground for the row of switches? Would it just be corrosion on a grownd connection? Why does the hatch not drop voltage when raised, but does when going down? I tried swapping the switch, that didn't change anything. Replaced the hatch motor as well, that didn't change anything. RE: 1988 3300 Open - Voltage drop when lowering engine hatch or honking horn - Final Pursuit - 03-19-2026 What about other functions? Is it only the hatch down and the horn? If yes I would start checking grounds. RE: 1988 3300 Open - Voltage drop when lowering engine hatch or honking horn - cp4000 - 03-20-2026 Mine has a remote deck switch behind the Starboard console. Does that one work ok? RE: 1988 3300 Open - Voltage drop when lowering engine hatch or honking horn - hiccup - 03-24-2026 You say the voltage drops to 4-6V. Where and how are you measuring that voltage? Obviously you have at least one very bad connection somewhere. The correct way to diagnose this is with a multimeter. |
