We have an offer in on an early 90s Tiara 2700, 1100 hours on freshwater Mercruisers. Recent risers, bottom paint, seems well kept.
I'm hiring a surveyor, but anything particular to make sure it checked, tested, etc. on this particular model boat?
How many hour should we bank on out of these engines??
Thanks. -Paul
We had one of these as our first powerboat after "converting" from 40 years of sailing. And loved it. A great day boat, solid as a rock and OK for overnighting if you like camping. We were comfortable taking it out to Stellwagen Banks and up the coast to Portland. Never doubted it and it never let us down. If the prior owners have properly cared for the engines and not run WOT, the engines should be good for another 1000 hours.
Good luck on the survey.
Not specific to that boat, however be sure they use the moisture meter or infrared camera around any deck fittings (Windlass, rail stanchions, cockpit floor hatches etc). Not sure what the engine room vent setup is on that boat, however on other opens, this has been an area of moisture concern as well.
