[WTB] 3300 open, possibly a '94-'00 3100.
#1
Hi all,
Just sold my 19' Lund Tyee and looking to get into a Tiara.  Don't have a monster budget but fishing on Lake Michigan got a little too rough for the 19'.  Kind of have my heart set on a 3300 open, maybe a 94' - 2000 3100 open.  Located in Milwaukee and would prefer it be located in the Southern half of WI, MI or Northern parts of IL, IN.  I know this is a tough task, thanks for your time!

There is a really sharp looking 2000 3100 in Sandusky, OH. I keep trying to get my friend to go look at it, but he's in his early 80's and not sure he wants to upgrade at this point in his life.

Thanks Misdirection,

I have seen that one before, beautiful boat! There does seem to be a sale pending on it and the price is a bit more than I can go especially for my first boat over 20'.  I understand looking for a quality boat like a Tiara in my price range is like trying to find a needle in a haystack but I still have some time.

Thanks again!

Sorry Jon, your going to be hard pressed to find a 90's 31 or larger less then $65k - $90k. I sold my 98 31 Open two years ago ($89k) and have been getting monthly calls still. The boats are popular and hard to find.

Tiaras are a fantastic boats for fishing or cruising. Solid build and solid resale. Especially the 90 - 2000. It the reason they are hard to find and often higher cost then similar sized boats by other boat builders.

If you really interested late 80's boats are still solid if well maintained. Might just have to put in a little more work to upgrade or maintain.

Good luck and hopefully you make it in the Tiara family somehow!

Hi Dakota773,

I am going to look at a 1988 3300 open tomorrow.  Anything I should be aware of on  a pre ‘90 model?  Did they make some changes in ‘90 and above?  I know they made some changes on the 3100s in ‘92 and ‘94 but wasn’t aware of any to the 3300.  Would appreciate any advice.  Thanks again everybody!

If you like the boat, just have a professional survey done by someone who is familiar with Tiara's. Hatch hinges, port lights, bow pulpit, etc should be inspected for moisture (which the surveyor will know to do).

Likewise, make sure you do a sea trial and it makes WOT.

A boat of that vintage will have routine maintenance items that need done, but if well maintained, that list should be managable.

The deadrise was changed in 92 on the 31 and 33. Also, the helm changed. I love everything about my 1988 33' Open, but working on the front of the motors. Which quite a few friends warned me about, but it was worth the extra room in the cabin. Get yourself a good surveyor that knows Tiaras.

Great to hear from a ‘88 3300 open owner.  Glad you like the boat and thanks everybody for the help.  I liked the oneI looked at and have money down pending a survey and sea trial.  Should be completed in a week or two.  Hope all goes well!!
