My rear bilge does not stay dry. Airmar transducer is installed in a plastic housing that you fill with 4200 or 5200. Water runs up against housing but has never covered entire transducer as far as I know.
Just put in two Humminbird 710294-1 XPTH 14 HW MSI T SOLIX MEGA SI+, DI+, Dual Spectrum Chirp w/Temp Plastic Thru Hull Transducers in the area under the steps on my 88 3100 Open. One would have bounced off the hull and obscured my DI. Scared to death to do it, ended up cutting out part of the floor that is over the shower sump/bilge. Was a lot easier than I thought. They are 12 inches from any "obstruction" as the install calls for. It was pricey for 2 but hopefully it works out, boat goes in the 27th after many minor repairs
I put two Humminbird 710294-1 XPTH 14 HW MSI T SOLIX MEGA SI+, DI+, Dual Spectrum Chirp w/Temp Plastic Thru Hull Transducers below the steps in my 88 3100 Open, a "fin" in center of the boat hull necessitated one on each side of the "fin", they go to an Apex 19 FF
