Today, everything was working fine on shore power then the dock pedastool went dead. Only mine. We could not get the dock breakers to reset. Being 90 degrees, we started the generator per the manual and both AC's plus everything else ran perfect. We finally got the dock power to reset but did not plug the cable in. We shut down the generator per instructions and reconnected the shore power step by step correctly. Now the AC's will not turn on. The panel gages show we have full shore power coming into the cabin panel. Fridge and other appliance panel switches light up and work. Battery chargers are working. Are there other breakers we are missing. We have some pretty experienced dock mates but they are stumped too. We are running one 30 amp cable with a splitter. I've tried to run two 30 amp cables but only one will work.
Sorry but not familiar with the 35 shore power wiring. What was your power cord configuration before you had the issues at the pedestal? If you have two 30A inlets then typically you will need two 30a cords, one each connected to a dedicated 30a receptacle or into a 50A splitter. Splitting a single 30A into two 30s will most likely not provide the required power.
If only one 30A cable is providing power to the boat, and you have two connected, then check the inlet breaker for the second cord as it could be tripped or defective.
It is not unusual for boat builders to put the ACs on one 30A cable and remaining systems on the other 30a cable (when wiring a boat with two 30a inlets)
Thanks, although we were on one 30 AMP with a splitter which worked for the previous owner and us for a week at a time with everything running on Shore switch ONE in the cockpit. We turned on Shore Switch Two near the swim platform starboard stairs and the AC's came back on. I have a tech coming to set up the main panel so I can run two 30AMP power cords which should solve the issues.
Why do you need a tech? It's already set up for 2 30A cords. Ditch the splitter, get a second cord, plug each cord into its own 30A outlet on the dock and you'll be set.
Are these GFI breakers that you are tripping on your pedestal? Prior to GFI breakers being installed at marinas some boat builders tied the neutral wires together on twin 30A inlet installations which can cause GFIs to trip.
