I’ve damaged the propellers of my Tiara 38 Open with 2 Cummins 8.3 490hp. The well renowned foundry where they have been sent for repairing here in Italy, states that it would be better to transform them in 4-blades instead of 3- as this would reduce vibrations, improve performances and reduce consumption. Did anybody have a similar experience? Comments?
4 blade props are generally better at lower speeds--perhaps get on plane at a lower speed, but less efficient at higher speeds than 3 blade designs, so I would expect to lose some top end.
I had a blade failure on one of my original 3 blade props. I decided to change both props just in case. The prop shop convinced me to move to a 4 blade Acme prop. Slightly more expensive but not much. I can’t say I have seen any change in cruise or WOT. They are smooth. And I can turn 2650 on my tachs. The bite at the dock is great, but it was pretty impressive with the original 3 blade props too. I don’t have a way to determine if any change has occurred in fuel burn. Hope that helps. Be happy to share more if you need.

Sure, why don't you give us the specs of your 3 blade and whatever performance specifics you can remember and the same for the 4 blade.
