I recently purchased a 1984 Tiara 2600 Continental with twin Merc 488's. The boat unfortunately was neglected a bit by its most recent previous owner of 3 years. I know the owner prior to that and it was a great boat. I saved it from disaster and am looking for some info. Google and Duck Duck Go have been fruitless on finding wiring schematics for the boat or engines so far. I have a multi model factory Mercruiser manual for now but am looking for more detail.
My immediate need is for hull specs to fit a trailer. At least the fore and aft deadrise angles would be helpful as the boat is almost 2 hours away and I have forgotten to take those measurements on my previous visits.
In general, any leads on model specific information would be greatly appreciated.

Hello All,

I have a Coronet that has a ripped starboard aft seat (behind the sink) that I want to have the upholstery replaced on. It was easy enough to find the screws on the leading edge of the cushion, but it was still being held down from somewhere underneath. I thought unzipping the cover would give me access to bolts under the cushion, and nothing there either. After removing the cushion material I found a grey plastic plate affixed to the hatch. Also, In the process of opening the zipper, the pull mechanisim turned to dust, so now my seat is a total mess. I lifted the hatch looking for access from underneath and everything is covered by the engine room insulation. Can anyone verify that I should be cutting a small opening into the inslation to gain access to the seat bottom?

Thank you in advance for the help.

I have 01 3800 Open I keep on the Chesapeake Bay. The boat has been at the current marina for 10 plus years. The water there is hard, I imagine straight from the marina swell. When I empty the tank to winterize (hasn’t been issue during summer because I keep at least 1/2 always) I am finding the freshwater screen filter full of what looks like a whiteish mineral deposit. They look like pebbles, hard but can be broken up, and they seem to somewhat stick to each other. Anyone experience same and find a good fix? I use a West Marine water treatment during the season. If I run the tank too low I will get this sentiment clogging the feed line. I have to use a compressor to blow the sentiment back into the holding tank. Any thoughts on dissolving or cleaning the tank without removing it is appreciated.

Low and behold the insurance company sends me a nasty gram you need your boat surveyed out of water by bla bla bla.
The last thing I want is some uh,person jamming ice picks into my bulkheads or running my boat wide open throttle across a lake full of debris to prove what?
I have a hard spot for surveyors with ice picks because I am sure that is the very reason the bones on my old Penn Yan were waterlogged and rotten.
Not all the bones were rotten , just the ones with ice pick holes.
I never run my Crusaders over 3800 rpm and shouldn't have to scatter my cranks or destroy my hull just to suit them.
Any suggestions or opinions on this is greatly appreciated.
