Trim Tab Zincs - Help - Matta0413 - 03-28-2017
I recently purchased a 2002 31 Open. The past owner was getting on in age and was not very good with the maintenance the past few years. When I hauled the boat in the fall I noticed the trim tab Zincs were completely gone. Not a big deal as there isn't any corrosion on the tabs. But the location of the holes for the Zincs will not allow for a standard "Clam Shell" style anode. Someone had mentioned it looked like a "Tear Drop" style anode may have been used. Is there anyone with a 31 Open that can advise as to which kind of Zincs they have on their trim tabs?

I had good luck matching mine up at boatzincs.com and they were affordable... (I have no affiliation with them)

I owned a 1997 31 Open and now own a 38 Open and use zinc's from Bossler & Sweezy exclusively ... As it appears you are on Long Island I would recommend them highly.. There zinc's are MIL Spec and I've always found them to be the best.... They have a zinc that attaches to the trim tabs using the 2 screws that attach the hydraulic piston to to the Trim tab itself.... Normally get 1 year out of the pair and are easily replaced.... Thanks for the links. I will check them out. I am on the Long Island Sound but am on the CT side. I will be going to the Defender sale tomorrow I will see what they have. I like the idea of using the two piston holes on the tab.

Not sure if Defender sells B&S Zinc's. Know there are distributors on the CT side of the sound. I recommend that you consider using them as they are really a step above all others that I'm aware of..... M2C
