38 open 2001-fishbox/livewell overboard macerator pump out - OurHighLife - 08-14-2019
2001 38 open have a fishbox & a "livewell" in deck just in front of the transom.
How can I plump the fishbox to an overboard macerator pump? In know that I will need a through hull fitting.
How can I plump the "livewell" with a raw water supply & overboard discharge to constantly circulate the water in the "livewell".
Is it better to use a diaphragm macerator pump?

On my 36, my fish box has long hose (so I can remove the box) that goes into a pump that goes into a thru hull out the bottom of the boat. There is a switch just under the rear gunnel. Switch up fills the fish box with sea water. Switch down empties the sea water from the fish box.

First photo shows the thru hull, pump, and hose up to the back of my fish box.
second photo shows the pump, it's a Jabsco, model 18870-0123
Third photo is the switch just inside the gunnel on the stern. In the up position, it fills the fish well, in the down position, it drains the fish well.

When something does seem to get stuck in there, I just run it in fill for a few moments and then empty again and it's fine. I have yet to get something stuck in there that caused a problem that I couldn't work loose.
