Tiara 31 Replace sanitation hose - bckma - 10-02-2019
I have a 1996 31 Open and the boatyard says I need to replace my sanitation hoses, which could be original. OK, not so bad BUT they say they have to remove parts from the port engine to do so. Sounds crazy, but has anyone done this and have some experience? Any input would be appreciated.

What kind of system to you have. If your 31 is like mine then your holding tank is on the port side behind the engine. I can see them having to take off the exhaust elbow or the oil filter mount. Even the exhaust hose if your vacuflush generation tank is where mine is. This is a project I will be tackling this off season.

Sounds like the same, Crusaders with holding tank and vacuflush on port side aft of engine. Now I can have an intelligent discussion with the yard on what's involved. Many thanks from a mechanically challenged guy.

Got a couple big engines squeezed in there. Doesn’t surprise me.
I took off the filter thou, just something that plugs up. Not needed if you keep it treated and pumped out.

Thanks. That sounds like a good idea. I'm a fanatic on treating and pumping out so the filter can go..,.

I agree on the removal of the filter although I would recommend you replace it with a new one.... One thing that has come up numerous times on the site is if the holding tank fills to the point liquid gets into the filter its finished and either needs to be replaced/removed..... M2C
