Painting vinyl seats . - Donaldjames - 05-24-2023 Has anyone ever painted there vinyl seats ? I am looking to do a bit of touch up on the top of the seats where it rounds over and seems to get sun damage . Wondering what brand vinyl paint and color. Thanks! RE: Painting vinyl seats . - MC1600 - 05-24-2023 Hate to burst your bubble, Donald, but I don't see that working. I can't imagine a paint that you'd ever be able to get an adhesion that is worth the effort. I'm afraid recovering if your best option. Are you sure it's damage and not dirty? I had seats that I thought for sure had to be recovered. I hit the spots with a steam cleaner and all the "damage" literally wiped away. RE: Painting vinyl seats . - Donaldjames - 05-24-2023 Actually, it’s been done before and I just wanted to enhance it a bit. You can hardly tell that it was done as it’s just a faint paint line. RE: Painting vinyl seats . - 29opensoon - 05-30-2023 I actually painted all of my cushions in the cuddy this Spring, and they turned out great. I will be painting my bolsters this week as soon as the paint arrives. SEM Vinyl paint is what I use. Plan on at least 4 or 5 light coats. The paint odor will last for at least a week if the cushions are kept in the cuddy. Good luck RE: Painting vinyl seats . - Donaldjames - 05-30-2023 Thanks for the reply, is there a particular color that you used or just straight white? Also any priming necessary? RE: Painting vinyl seats . - Matta0413 - 05-30-2023 I have not done it myself but a buddy of mine did his and they came out really good. RE: Painting vinyl seats . - 29opensoon - 05-30-2023 SEM sells a Prep spray, I use it. 1 can will last a life time of cushions. That's the closest to a primer that I know of. Too many White choices for the bolsters. I'm either going with Carver White or Ranger White. Trying to match the present back to back seats. RE: Painting vinyl seats . - MC1600 - 05-31-2023 This is a wild discussion. I have never heard of someone painting a cushioned seat (stiffer vinyl, sure, but the abuse our seats take?!). Does anyone have some pics of a finished product? RE: Painting vinyl seats . - Donaldjames - 05-31-2023 (05-31-2023, 06:33 AM)MC1600 Wrote: This is a wild discussion. There are many projects on YouTube that show the process in action, I will update you on mine when I finish. Cheers! |
