High oil pressure readings - Mydiamond - 04-15-2024 My 33 open usually runs 40 - 60 psi. Engines are crusader, gas. 454 xl After changing the oil at the end of the season, oil pressure jumped to 80 psi. Same type oil and filter. Changed oil filter again per forum suggestions - still issues Sending unit new. Anyone have experience changing oil pressure release? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. RE: High oil pressure readings - jclark003 - 04-15-2024 It’s not unusual for new oil to kick pressure up a bit, especially when cold. As long as it doesn’t climb any higher I would run it for a while and see if it stabilizes. RE: High oil pressure readings - Sans Peur - 04-21-2024 That's a pretty big jump. Try changing the filter first. Could be a mfg issue with the filter. RE: High oil pressure readings - Mydiamond - 05-26-2025 Closing this out. After trying New filter Oil flush Change oil twice Changed sending unit ….. I purchased a high oil pressure relief valve. $6 part. (Recommend getting new O rings also. Thank goodness it was starboard engine . Took off hoses and 2 bolts - replace relief valve. Good as new Thanks to all of the suggestions along the way. |
