I can't seam to find what the diferance is for 31/ 32/ 33 ' I know the beam is wider, for the 33 so is the cabin larger, or the rear deck, or both,,,, as in sea rays meany year models are the same with different , as 90 to 95 40' 42 44' 06 to 08 the same 06 08 ',, 06-- 08 50- 52- 55' the same, I know, I've owned them, I I bought a 52' over a 55', lots to save, taxes haulout, so on,, some are majored swim platform to poppet some are not, so could some one help with ? Thanks all

31 (old style) - built from 198? - 1992(1/2). 12' Beam, 14 degree Deadrise, no transom door.

31 (new style) - built from 1992 (1/2) - 2004. 12' Beam, 18 degree Deadrise, transom door. This is generally considered the most popular Tiara ever built with I believe over 1000 having been built.

32 - built from 2003/4 - 201?. 13' Beam. This 32 was built on a cut down Tiara 3500 Open hull. Great boat, but it does not ride as well as the 3500 Open due to its shorter length to beam ratio. Don't get me wrong, it runs great, but not as great as the 35. It has a much larger cabin than a 31 due to the beam and extra length. There is a lot more volume in the cabin. Helm and cockpit are similar in size, albeit wider, than the 31. The 32 was the smallest Tiara built with a centerline queen berth.

33 - built from 198? - 199?. 12'6" Beam, 14 degree Deadrise. The 33 has a much larger cabin than a 31, but has a much shorter helm area and the cockpit is similar in size.

Chris - I recently had a chat with a broker about my search for a 31.  He panned the ride and said a 35 or 32 was much better.  Could you comment on this?  I assumed the 31, based on popularity, must have a pretty good ride (I know its subjective).  I like the size of a 31, don't need the 35, but his comments have got me wondering...

The 31 was a great boat (1992.5 and newer). Does the 35 ride better? Yes it does. Those are two completely different hull designs. The 41 and the 42 Opens ride much better than the 35 and the 52 rides better than 41 and 42. See where I am going with this?

If you consistently run around in 3' chop or greater, I would highly recommend the 35 or 36 Open (built on the same hull). If however, you only occasionally see choppy conditions and a 31 is more in the size range you are comfortable with, you can't go wrong with a 31.  

Ride has a lot to do with waterline length to beam ratio, hull entry, hull design and transom Deadrise. A 31 with a 10' beam would have ridden better than what Tiara built with a 12' beam, however my guess is that it would not have been near as popular. 2' less beam would have made the boat a much smaller boat. Everything is a compromise.

If you can go a bit bigger, for the money, the 35 Open is a better all around boat, but keep in mind that a 35 open is 40'8" long from tip to tip, so it is not really a 35' boat. The 31 for that matter is not really a 31' as it's LOA is 36'4" from the tip of the bow pulpit to the end of the swim platform.

The other issue is engines. If you want gas engines, I would stick with the 31. The 35 was a poor performer with gas. If you are going diesel, either boat is a good performing vessel.

PS - The 32's ride is not really better than the 31. It is longer, but it is also wider. I would say their ride is comparable.
