Greetings all,

I have a 2002 4100 open and I'm having AC issues.  Periodically the pump won't turn on and I get a code of "HHH".  It started at the dock on shore power only and now it also does it when on the generator.  It's been my experience pumps typically don't have an intermittent issue like this.  Any suggestions how to troubleshoot?

My 35 does that, my pump is running but air locked. Turn the air off, take a hose and pump water back thru the the discharge outlet  to the pump

My old boat used to get airlocked. I put a brass T with a shut off valve after the pump so I could let it prime itself any time I needed to.

Does the pump run with no water flow? If so above advice is correct. If the pump does not run then it is either a problem with the pump motor or the switching on the supply side. First check is to put a meter on the wires going into the pump. 120VAC so be careful. If no power and two ac units share the same pump then try setting the second ac unit into cooling mode. If the pump starts moving water then most likely you have a bad trigger. Triggers are located in a small control box with wires leading to each condensing unit, the pump motor and the breaker panel. Not unusual for them to fail and can be purchased at most marine ac shops or on ebay for less than $50.00. Make sure you turn off all breakers to ac units and pump supply before opening up and servicing the box.

At the breaker panel the light for the pump is not coming on and both AC units run for about 3 minutes then display the HHH code.  I'm confused because intermittently works. I'll check the pump this weekend to see if it's getting power.

What type or brand of pump are you using?

If you are using the red pumps (March pumps) this can happen when the cooling line that is on the pump (the copper lines that you see on the pump) become clogged and the pump kicks off due to high heat. After approx. 3-4 minutes since you have no water flow the AC unit will also kick out as you specify.

Corrective action is to remove the pump and clean out the copper cooling lines to ensure proper water flow on the cooling circuit. Has happened to me several times. If you can catch when the pump does not run but the AC units are, feel the red pump body. Be careful, if what I said above is happen then the red body will be HOT. If everything is running correct, you should be able to touch the red body for a long time as it will remain cool as it is cooling correctly.

If you are running the red march pump (sometimes Dometic has blue ones but they are still made by march) the this information is of no use to you.

Thank you to everyone for your advice.
I checked the pump and it had power. I disconnected the two lines that feed the AC units and they were clear. I tested the pump without the lines and it worked. I reassembled the lines and everything is working properly.
