If a surveyor is nearby he/she may do a preliminary survey. They may may find something really bad right off and then quit. If it passes, they can then come back and finish it up with better access later. Obviously if they are far away from the boat that won't be practical.
Well, I was fortunate enough to find a highly qualified surveyor right there in Old Saybrook. I'm very pleased with the quality of work he has performed. Thanks again to all who nudged me in that direction.
The preliminary survey has gone well.

Just curious about your survey status. I've had partial surveys done in the winter, contingent on finishing in the Spring, and it worked out just fine. If the seller is legit, should have no problem with this procedure since you're showing you're serious.

To date, the surveyor has been back to the boat twice and plans on finishing up when the boat is commissioned for the sea rial. Climbing the ladder and wiggling though the door in the shrinkwrap just once was enough for me lol
I bought a Tiara 2900 Open in Old Saybrook last year and I used Atlantic Marine Survey. The gentleman's name is Barnaby Blatch and he is extremely knowledgeable and one of the nicest gentleman I've ever met. He was recommended by my broker because I am from New Jersey and didn't know anyone up in CT, and he was absolutely great and very thorough. He also knows Bayside Diesel in CT that I hired along with Barnaby to check out my twin Cummins Diesels and both of them accompanied me on the sea trial. I absolutely recommend him.
