Hello all and thanks for letting me join,

I recently bought a '93 3100 that had just been repowered with C7.1 Cats and new ( in 2021 ) 
Garmin 942 xvs's for bottom and gps. I am now considering getting a Garmin Fantom 24x radar and using a 1042 xvs for the radar display.

I have a flybridge and fabric top over the main helm station. The old radar was mounted at the front of the fabric top under the floor of the flybridge. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? If so, do you have any advice on correct mounting angle of the radar? Is there an app for an ipad that would allow me to mount a pad on the bridge (when in use) that would eliminate all the wiring needing to be fished through the tower legs?

The radar would be primarily for close navigation and safety. I'm going to use binoculars for birds. Lower Chesapeake Bay VA.
