3100 open batteries '94

Hello, wondering if someone can help explain my batteries. I have 7. 3 for a xantrex inverter, I replaced them last year. I'm pretty sure I need the 4 mains now. But I'm not sure how they're wired. And what's eng vs house. Is this a common setup? I have 2 24's and 2 27 deeps I think. They are paired together. And the fwd pair has a red cable labeled stbd while the aft pair is labelled port. Not the best pics billy should give an idea. Thx. [Image: d9ad3f71269b7e146f53924c7b306945.jpg]

The deep cycle batteries are your house batteries/starting batteries.. The other two are starting batteries.
You have two 12 volt batteries in parallel for each engine. These are the 4 short jumper cables. Red (+) to Red to Red engine cable and Black (-) to Black to the Black engine ground point. The light weight red wires should be going to your battery charger. There should also be a heavy Black wire connecting the two engine ground points together.
Mark all the wires. Turn off your battery charger. Then for safety sake, disconnect the black leads first, then the red leads.
Reconnect the red leads and then the black leads.
You should be good to go.

Thx I want to replace all 4. I was thinking 4x 27 deep cycles. Should I just replace with the same size batteries? So the 2 deep are house and 1 motor? And the interstates are just staring to port, or both motors?

You want  two starting batteries for the port engine and two deep cycle for the stbd. engine and house. There is no need for four deep cycle batteries. A starting battery will crank your engine much faster than a deep cycle will. Just replace exactly what you have. Capt. George

One more question.... The 27 cranking bats don't fit in my trays. Rather thAn replacing the trays should I just get 2 24's? Or cut the aft
Lip off the tray and keep the 27's? Thx

Two 24's should be more than enough to crank over a 454.  Capt.  George

Agree done installed. Funny also, new port batteries fixed my windshield motor too. Wasn't working before I replaced them. Live and learn! Thx
