My fellow fishermen, I just bought a 3800 open from someone who did not fish. I replaced the live well pump and all hoses. My overflow exhaust is not allowing enough water through. Is this just a rubber plug that the previous owner put in and painted over or is this some special type of flapper valve which is just gummed up from being painted? Check out the video. I wanted to ask before just pulling it out.
Thanks!!
Capt James
Your beit well should be plumbed one of 2 ways.
1. Flow in from the main baitwell pump. A drain in the bottom center with a stand pipe that fits into it to allow for drainage once the water hits the top of the pipe. Once done remove the pipe and it will drain out.
2. My 50 Open has the following Flow in from main baitwell pump. A bottom drain with a plug to hold the water in and a top drain for keeping the well level and not overflowing. Once you are done with the baitwell remove the bottom plug and it drains.
I also have a small.livewell in the floor of my 41 that has a pump to drain the live well.
I took another look and I have the second option you described for my baitwell in the floor. The problem seems to be that the top drain is plugged at the through hull. What I’m trying to figure is what it is supposed to look like on the outside of the boat. Should it be an open hole or is there some special flapper? Thanks
