2006 36’ open  I recently replaced my radar system from an open array to a 24’ Garmin closed array.  How many inches high should the radar pedestal be for the radar image to clear the boat.  Thanks

I am in the decision making process of the same decision. I have an open array that came with my 2006 3600 Open, and I have a 12kw at the shop for 6 months waiting to get a price on fixing it. Depending on the price I may go with a 24” dome like you did. I would be interested to know how it works when you have it running. I really want the Open array back working, but if the price is too high, I may just go with the 24” dome. I had a 24” dome on my previous boat which was a 25’ Edgewater Center console and it worked great on that boat, but could never see birds on it, which I would like to be able to do. 

Have you called Garmin? They may have a suggested height since I am sure there are a lot of Tiaras with them installed.

I did a quick search and this link refers to the height to mount it. I also looked and the height of the open array was about 20” tall. See if this link works. https://static.garmin.com/pumac/GMR_xHD3..._EN-US.pdf
