I installed a Profish 700FF on my Albin 28. First one had issues right out of the box, Lewmar had me drop it at a local repairer and they replaced it with new. Second one never had an issue. I tried the free fall feature but preferred powering down instead, better control, never felt comfortable with letting it free fall, maybe cause I had 40ft of chain and usually anchored in shallow waters. When I anchor deep I use a 600ft spool in a barrel and pull it with a ball.
Also, the Profish is known to be sensitive to the chain to rope splice. I was able to make a good tapered splice with 3-strand and never once had an issue. You can buy a pre-spliced chain/rode but I opted to make up my own as we sleep on the hook a lot and I wanted a longer chain..
