[Parched]

In relocating my boat north to south we were about 10 miles out from one of our stops we were running at about 2600 rpms when the port engine seemed to go out of gear the starboard powered down to about 1500 rpms. The cabin filled with an oil burning smell.  The port engine runs but nothing happens when putting the engine forward or reverse. My mechanic is out of town on vacation and unreachable. 

The gear oil sample came pack at 358pm. The  mechanic's working on the boat who are Volvo certified have said that they want to replace my pod with a remanufacture one from Volvo.

 The gear oil sample wasn’t in before my regular mechanic left but his thoughts were that the gear box needs to be replaced. Any thoughts s from anyone who may of had a similar experience ?
