engine hatch lift on 2004 3600
#1
Just bought boat; engine hatch lift engages, but doesn't lift the huge deck hatch. are there other steps in the process other than pushing the button? such as saftey latches?

Just went thru this with my older 40' express. Many components are involved in providing lift. In my case, the hydraulic pump was replaced and upon looking further, the 4 valve diverter system was also a rust bucket and I am awaiting its $2000 replacement. These items are located in the most aft portion of your boat. Good luck and I hope it's not as bad as mine !

You don't mention if this is an OPEN, Sovran, etc.

Not sure about yours, but mine are not hydraulic but are a screw type of lift. I have a 2000 3500 and there is a switch on the companion seat that must be open (or closed forget which) in order for the engine hatch to lift. Otherwise the seat would get crushed since it is right next to the front section of the boat. Not sure if you have a seat that needs to be moved before lifting the hatch but if so, there is a switch associated with it that may be bad.

agree with Tri21...make sure the insert seat is removed. Deck will not lift with it in place. Also, make sure your helm seat is set all the way aft.

If you're saying it "engages" then I do not believe it is any of the safety devices like the removable seat at the fwd end of the L setee.
If it were a safety cutoff you'd get nothing at all.
So it makes noise like the cylinder is getting power but there is no lift?

wow, folks, thanks for the responses. i'll take a closer look when get back aboard freedom in annapolis in a couple weeks. i can hear the motor engage, but see no movement in the lid. i did remove the removable passsenger seat, but not sure if the helm seat is all the way aft. the broker demonstrated the lift, but not the details, before we bought the boat in Freeport, LI, NY. thanks again. this is our 1st experience with a stinkpot. we've been island packet sailors for 15 years in the caribbean. just the idea of such engine access is grand for me! thanks again.
