Ok guys, I am having a heck of a time getting the windows out to re bed. I got the inside trim piece with the window and gasket off. The outside piece is being a pain. I got as much caulk dig out as possible with no luck. Any tips or tricks?

Thin tip of a razor blade, shim, and repeat working your way around the oval.

You do this on the exterior/hull side?

Use the razor blade tip and wooden shims and work your way around the portlight on the outside of the boat. It sounds like someone may have used an adhesive when it was last rebed (hopefully not 5200).

You might need Debond or something comparable to spray in the joint and loosen it up.

Use a metal putty knife sprayed with wd-40 a tap it with a small hammer behind the outer trim ring and the hull go in until it stops do this all the way around the porthole after that depending on how it was installed it may still take a good amount of pushing from the inside to get it to go.

It just doesn’t look like there isn’t any room between the hull and the actual metal frame. I will be some de bonding agent and try the putty knife thing.

You might also try a little heat.

I changed out all the thru-hulls as well as the interior fitting of one of the hatches, all bedded with 5200. The putty knife did most of the work, but a little heat helped the knife get in deeper. I used a hear gun, but made sure never to get beyond the point where i couldn't touch it with my hand. Lots of patience, little bit deeper and eventually got through enough of the 5200 to release them.
