Any ideas? Mine is set to the right and when I turn it to the left, engines shut down.

That’s the override for your Halon system. You don’t ever need to touch it unless you get into an emergency situation where the halon system has discharged and you need to try and start an engine to get home.

Wen you have your system regularly inspected, they should test that.

Sounds like yours is in the over ride position now. If the engines shut down when you move it to the left your system has a problem.

The reason I knew this is because a couple of weeks ago both my engines started but only ran for a few seconds. I called my mechanic and he immediately said that something is wrong with the fire suppression system. Try moving the switch to the override position and they should run. I did but that did not help. He came to the boat, said the FE 241 bottle had leaked down to the red area, did a jumper on the bottle and they started and continued to run.

The bottle was timed out and could not be refilled. So, next week I am getting a new 700cf bottle and, because the override switch did not work, an all new switch and associated parts. Total deal installed just south of $3,000.
