So I bought my boat in December and unfortunately the mechanic has been jerking me around about finishing the repairs for months (if you are looking for a mechanic in the Baltimore area contact me if you want to know who has my boat so you can make an informed decision about your own. At survey I had engine vibration which resulted in a recommendation for a full mount replacement and possibly shaft replacement.
So nine months later and we are finally at sea trials today. Unfortunately the shaft seal replacements were both leaking. While this "mechanic" had my engine room torn apart to change out the motor mounts he also tore down my exhausts and anything that needed to come off in order to lift the motors for replacement of the mounts.
Anyway, this post is about the exhaust fumes in the cabin. So I am trying to determine if the high volume of diesel fuel fumes maybe something else he "fixed" is a new problem or if it is merely because we sat at idle for about 15 to 20 minutes while waiting for the bilge pumps to catch up before limping back to the marina and the travel lift.
Other than the fact that my "mechanic" isn't somebody I would recommend to any of you is there something specific I need to be looking at with respect to my exhaust? It doesn't seem like something that should be that hard to do so I am assuming that it was probably from sitting out there so long.
There was no odors present in December during sea trials.
