Tiara Open Extend Swim Platform 1988 36 Open
#1
First post ever so I hope it works?! :-)

Am thinking of adding a larger swim platform to my 36 Open.  Currently has the standard factory swim platform.
Would like to add a platform that can support a dinghy.
Has anyone ever done this, have any suggestions, or done anything like this?

- Affect performance of the boat - besides the added weight issues (like another trim tab that I do NOT want)?
- If doable suggested reinforcement method.
- Suggested place to purchase swim platform.

I have a '86 36 Open with a swim platform but it's not factory. Installed sometime after and it's metal. It's also very low to the water which has it's advantages and disadvantages. Easy to get back on but a long step down from the transom door. If I find another platform, I think I'll raise it up a bit.

In terms of yours, I'm thinking just be sure it's long enough and can drain the water easily to take the stress off of the fittings.

I am having one built for my 36 Open, but mine is a 2007 model. I am having it built at Beachcomber Fiber in Stuart Florida, it will be 36” x122”.

I have a 1989 33' Open and was thinking the same thing. The swim platform on this model is not very deep. The boat was repowered with Yanmar Diesel engines, so I think, but will verify, it can handle the extra weight. Would love to see some pictures of any swim platform upgrades.
