Hi all!

Thanks Sans Peur! LOL! It is said, go big or go home. Don’t have time for two-foot-itis. I’ll be retiring in a few years and want some good experience under my belt by that time. There’s always lots to learn and I appreciate what the good folks on this forum have to share.

Good friends have invited us along on their boats over the past couple of decades and my wife and I decided this is the life for us. We always wanted a cottage on the water and we wound up with one IN the water!

We probably spent close to 100 days on our boat last season and expect the same this year. So much to learn. I practiced docking my boat 120 times before he went out on our first cruise. It reminded me of learning to drive a car when I was a teenager.

This year our big cruise will be to Door County. Another focus will be to learn to fish Lake Michigan. I’ll be attaching half-a-dozen rod holders on my Sovran and will run a couple lines with planer boards. Maybe add a couple downriggers later.

A good buddy, with lots of lake fishing experience, will be teaching me. We figured the Sovran will fish well. The cockpit is pretty good size. We can fold down the transom table and seats to maximize. Not tournament fishing, but should be good recreational.

I know Sovran is a compromise. Open, like yours, is the great fishing platform. I haven’t seen any threads about Sovran fishing. I probably should start one!
