Hi Jim,
I can't speak to the 4100 directly. I have 94' 4300 open (w/ 6V92TA's ; ). My holding tank is centerline under the salon. The vent line comes up and off to the port side to the thru-hull fitting (located directly below the waste deck fitting). Not sure if it came from the factory this way, but the filter is about 2' down the vent line of the tank and screwed to the forward bulk head, nearly where it meets the salon deck. Removing the hatch to access it, you easily miss it because it's really tucked under there. Need to get on your knees and reach for it.
