One thing that applies to the Sovran and its molded platform that likely won't matter on the open. On the sovran since I was drilling through the swim platform (wood glass etc), I drilled larger wholes than I needed and filled with west six10. I then drilled the bolt holes through the epoxy thus never allowing the core to be exposed to moisture if the bolts act as a moisture wick.
We have had the boat in a variety of seas from Large following to beam to substantial head seas and have not had a problem. The only thing I'm careful about is not to come off plane too fast as the water will come up under the tender.
