Very interested in the responses because of what I’ve gone through recently. I figured it would be 1. Replace existing charger with inverter (using existing wiring), 2. Add a switch and fuse, 3. Run some AC wiring to the panel. Done. Figured a buddy and I could do it all in half a day.
But out of a lack of time, I had a couple companies give me estimates, and it’s upward to $7-10k. Insane for what I see as $1500 for an inverter and a couple hundred bucks for AC wiring. Everyone wants to run new wiring out of the battery bank. That and what seems like an excess amount of labor has me confused about the whole process.
Are they greedy or am I underestimating the true amount of work?
