While attending the Seattle Boat Show this week, I ran across a new product worth sharing. In my previous reply to this thread, I mentioned my frustration with my aluminum holding tank, either expanding or contracting on itself due to poor venting through a standard charcoal filter. While my in-line vent relief before my filter worked well in the past, it was an extra step to remember when pumping out. Warning guests against back to back flushes was also an annoyance. This new product solves both problems. It is made by Nautilus Filter and features a Helicoil design with increased charcoal volume plus a relief vent for pumping out. I no longer have to jump into the engine room to open the relief vent before pump outs and flushing twice within a minute is no longer a problem. Another big plus is that you only need to buy it once as you can buy their replacement charcoal medium at a fraction of the cost of a replacement filter. Just dump out the old medium and refill with the new. It even comes with a funnel.
Here’s a few pictures of the product and the installation.
