Thanks Reel Magic.  I checked out a 2003 38 Open that is stored next to me and the underside of the hardtop is different than on a 41 Open(2001).  The 38 has a larger fiberglass panel under the hardtop and on the 41 it's a plywood panel with vinyl covering which is then screwed to the underside, the lights are installed in this panel making it tricky to remove the panel with the lights still installed.  I was planning on adding 3 color LED courtesy lights anyway, perhaps this will be my incentive.
