I put the Nautley XL davits on my 43 Open and hang a zodiac yacht liner rib with a 15. Works very well off my platform with the exception of coming off plane. If I slow down too quickly the prop wash lifts the dingy up a couple of inches and then sets it right back down with no issues. If I feather the power a little I have no lift at all.

My platform is only about 29" deep so if you have the 40" platform you may catch a little more water. A call to Nautley may give you answers to this.  No issues running in a seaway. Once under way and even going up on plane the dinghy rides high and dry. i would not recommend leaving the motor down however.

The only downside I have found relates to getting the RIB onto the davits. On my platform there really isnt enough room to stand on the platform and pull the dinghy up. When on the davits there is only a couple of inches between the dinghy tube and the transom. So I tied a line to the transom grab bar then looped it through a small pulley attached to the dingy. I can then stand in the cockpit and pull the dingy up myself since the pulley acts as a force multiplier. Surprising how easy it is.

would love to have a freedom lift but after being quoted over $30K for the install, I'll make due with the dingy ramp.

I have that same lift that I brought with me from my 33' now to my 41',  just purchased last August. I will be installing the lift soon. What dimension apart did you use and approximately where did you put them on the platform? I have a 10'8" center console Brigg, that I use a Warn electric winch with a couple straps to pull it up. Works great!
