This is how I made the hatch extentions:
2 pieces of 1/4" stainless, 2" x12' with 1/4"+ holes 2" from each end.
Make up 2 - 2x4's to prop hatch at normal height, notch top to fit so it can't pop out, then lower hatch just enough to remove the top cylinder bolts. Lower the cylinders enough to attach the extentions and then raise the hatch. Make up 2 longer 2x4's for the added height so you can get them out of the way if you have to. You'll need 4 more bolts.
