Aiwa, did you ever receive any info on the LED upgrade? Have two bulbs out an Imtra states bulbs are sealed and have replace entire unit with the something similar to the Kodiak courtesy light with the Yukon.
Hi All,
I have a 1999 Tiara 40 express and want to switch the cabin down lights from the original Cantalupi to something similar in LED. There are 9 lights in all. What light do you recommend with the correct lighting effect. Don't want something too unidirectional. Cut out is just over 2.5" diameter and the bezel is 3 1/8" diameter in a slightly off white finish.
Any ideas? This was a pretty popular boat some I figure more than a few have done this. Older boat so don't need multi-color or dimming capability, just basic.
Thanks
If you like your fixtures just go onto Amazon and order some LED bulbs. Heck of a lot cheaper. Check you voltage and current type first so you know what to order. On the 5000 express Tiara ran some of the lights on transformed 12v AC and some on 24 vdc (all were G4 bulb types)
for the fixtures I ended up replacing I went with Imtra. Really nice lighting for sure but to be quite honest, the lighting was about the same as the cantalupi with upgraded LED bulbs.
Thanks for the advice. I do like the fixtures we have now, but when I was removing them, the spring clip broke on a few of them (old I guess). Do you know if there is any way to replace just the spring clips? If that is possible, then great and I would just buy bulbs as you suggest.
Greg
It depends. The spring clips can be removed and replaced on some fixtures. If they are old however it's possible the tab that retains the spring broke in which case you are out of luck.
