If you're getting high readings immediately following a rain storm, and then it dries up, that does not sound like moisture in the coring--it takes a long time for water to travel through end-grain balsa--years.  That sounds more like you have surface moisture from the rainfall (which most meters will trigger on) or water running down into the cosmetic foam or against an interior wall.

Sad to say but I am still getting high readings in the foam today after yesterday's heavy rain. With the eye brow installed over the porthole there is no way that water is coming in from the porthole itself. This is the only porthole that gets high readings in the foam. The other ones indicate dry on the meter. I am thinking it is coming in from above and dropping to the foam. I am getting higher readings aft and under the porthole so I suspect the mid ship cleat or the rub rail.
