I’m considering installing an inverter on my 1999 4000 Express. From the wiring diagrams it looks like an inverter was an option for power of the fridge, freezer, outlets, entertainment center and microwave. Does anyone know what size inverter was available for this option? Thanks!

Don't know what was factory but I installed a PROMARINER–TruePower Plus Series Inverter, 2000PS. I connected to all the circuits you mentioned and it works great.

Thanks. What’s the size of the battery bank your inverter is tied to? I believe my house bank is 3 x 80amp gel batteries.

I have at least 5 (maybe 6) on the house side.  They are group 27 batteries.  The biggest issue I had was locating the inverter.   Ending up mounting it to the wall above the genset as you go down the day hatch.    Ideally it should be as close to the batteries as possible.  I ended up having to run 10ish' of battery cables.

On my ‘97 4000 Express, in 2017, I installed a Xantrex Freedom HFS 2055 and added one additional battery to the house bank, for a total of 6 batteries. I used AGM batteries.

I was able to mount the unit in the same place as the old Charles battery charger that served the house bank on the port side on the forward wall of the engine compartment. It did make for a long cable run, but same as old charger.

I found the installation learning curve a bit steep with some help needed to interpret the wiring diagram since my wiring diagram was missing an important piece of information. Due to this it took several visits from the electrician to get it sorted.

My unit has performed well. On a trip to Maine and back from Florida we used our genset only to run the hot water heater and the occasional A/C days and to charge the house bank when anchored more than two nights. Underway, the engine alternators brought the house bank back up within a few hours. The inverter ran the fridge and freezer and lights the whole way.
