PSS shaft seals need to be burped when the boat is put in the water. If this is not done, there is the potential of a dry seal start-up causing damage to the shaft seals. To burp the seals, move the carbon face back to allow a small amount of water to enter the boat and allow any trapped air to exit the bellows. Note: The shafts have to be pulled to replace damaged seals, 5 minutes of time can save you $5000.00 in labor to replace a 50 cent o-ring. :bang: On a side note, Never start the engines, air conditioners, water pumps, or generator without first opening the fuel valves and raw water thru-hull ball valves. Some systems may need to be bled or primed. In the case of Cummins engines, Cummins suggests to remove the water pump top drain plug and spray some water into the pump to wet the impeller. Raw and fresh water pumps can become air locked on start up. By removing the water pressure side hose on the water pump and turning the pump on, will allow the bubble of air to be released. Some of our models come equipped with a bleeder port for this purpose.
