There is a gray plug with a white wire behind the lower cube if the set-up. That wire runs through a Bose subwoofer somewhere in the boat. There should be another harness that runs from the subwoofer to your stereo head. This is typically how the old Bose Lifestyle systems were wired.

On my 43 Sovran, the Bose speakers only work with the AV and televisions on the salon, not the receiver at the helm. I have a power amp located under the starboard settee which controls only the helm stereo. Hope this helps.
The sub-woofer module that tyersmoker is referring to should be below the port side couch/settee on the early 2000's 43 open. Lift up the forward cushion and there should be an access panel underneath with the sub-woofer below. The speakers all connect at that point. If you look carefully at the cube speakers you should see the wire run under a plastic cap on the mount stem.
And yes the Lifestyle receiver, most likely located in cabinet above settee, drives the speaker system and therefore needs to be on and playing some media. One of the sources (line 1 input I believe) on my Bose unit is connected to the output of the helm clarion system. So whatever is being played on the clarion can also be played on the Bose. Same with the TV.
Hope you figure it out.

Just got my TV ( previous owner put a 42 inch on the wall outside the head) hooked up to the BOSE ...because the Bose is old and TV is new, I had to use a 3.5 mm to the back of the TV and RCA to the Bose ...one heck of a wire snaking project!
