Hello, I think I need to replace my switch. Can someone tell me what part I would need? The switch itself seems to be intermittent.

Match it up at West Marine or Ebay. You want the highest contact rating you can get. That would be in AMPS.

On my 2003 38 Open the switch is a CARLTON rocker switch, double pole/double throw....... Total of 6 connections.

So that would make it a "DPDT mom" which is a double pole double throw "momentary ON- OFF- momentary ON". Be sure to match up the connector pins too so you don't have to replace the wire lugs. They are probably push on spade connections or screw terminals. Carlton is a standard brand, Carling is another. Also ask for a toggle  or rocker switch, depending on what you have. I would want a 30 Amp contact rating. Label the wires before you take them off. Capt. George

Thx all. So does this sound like my issue? Switch is intermittent and slowly getting worse. Sometimes tapping around it helps but that may be just chance.

I would replace it but it could be anywhere. Sounds like it may be just corrosion on the contacts. Try cleaning the contacts. Just remove the 4 screws holding it in place....M2C

Ok here's the switch. Now to find one. I was able to clean it a bit to work. But probably best to replace it. Thx

You have and need a "Carling VLD1 lighted switch".  $16.95 on eBay. I would also replace the badly corroded spade lugs on the ends of the wires. Mark all the wires carefully and make a diagram of their location. After check out I would apply a liberal coat of liquid electrical tape to stop further corrosion. Yours is a 20A switch. If you can find a 30Amp switch it would be even better.

Why is 30 better? Electric is one thing I don't pretend to know
