Good morning to all you Tiarans. My name is Timothy (Tim) Burling and last October I bought a 1990 36 Open ("Pandemonium") from Oliver, a frequenter (and recommender) of this forum. 

She's got twin Caterpillar turbo diesels at 375hp each. They are rather noisy and a bit smoky to begin with, but give a huge sense of security. I feel like I'm in a M1A1 Abrams when those babies get going (not that I've ever actually been in an Abrams. As a British born person I don't think the US government would be happy about that).

She lies in Cove Haven Marina in lush Barrington Rhode Island, close by the magnificent but difficult to spell Narragansett Bay. I am quite new to boating and am looking forward to working my way out of the bay to the islands between Long Island and Cape Cod or even beyond.

It's been a brutal and long winter and it seemed an eternity waiting for the snow to melt and get her in the water again, but finally she's back in.

The boat has been well cared for and all I've done so far is upgrade the electronics:

• 2 x SIMRAD NSS9 evo2 MFDs
  
• SIMRAD 4G radar
  
• Navico CHIRP sonar
  
• AIS
  
• AP10 autopilot
  

It gets foggy out there so can't be too careful.

I've learned a ton from lurking here and am very grateful to the experienced folk who volunteer their time by answering newbie questions from folks like myself. It really helps. Even the simple project of replacing shore power fuse holders can turn into a big deal, so help and advice here makes a big difference.

If you are new to boating I would suggest you join the local US Power Squadron and take some of their classes like ABC (Boating Safety), Seamanship, and Piloting. It's going to be expensive if you learn  the hard way. There are lots of rocks in Narragansett Bay. Practice using your radar on clear sunny days. Come August you will need it. Radar and USPS also gives you an insurance discount. Capt. George

Welcome to the group, and I love the photo of your boat.  One thing I really like about Tiara's is the way the hold up over the years.  I have a 94 4000e with cummins 6cta 400's, the boat looks 15 years newer than it is.  I have also had very good luck dealing with Tiara customer service.  Best Regards,
