Transducer location/type
#1
Question
Just wondering if anyone has any similar issue.
I have just recently taken ownership of a 2007 3200 open. Boat is perfect for the Australian climate and there should be more over here. I have a the raymarine package in this boat with Airmar B260 transducer. It is installed starboard side of starboard motor kind of mid engine bay.
Problem is I lose bottom on the sounder any speeds over 10knotts.
Has anyone else had this issue? Or what locations should the transducer be installed if this ine is in the wrong spot?

Thanks in advance.

I would think it should be installed more inboard to the centerline to put it deeper in the water. Also check that there is nothing forward of the xducer that would cause turbulence. Before you drill more holes to relocate it, read up on placing it in a bag of water in various locations in the bilge and run some tests. I would expect at least 20 knots before loosing bottom contact and if well placed it should work at WOT. Capt. George
