Hi,

On my 2001 there are two screws on the top of the dash console near the front window. If you remove those screws the entire panel (gauges and all electronics tilts forward to allow for access to underside. Hope that answers your question.

I want to remove the front panel with guage description so I can get it re silkscreened but was in hope that I wouldn't have to remove all the gauges to do so any ideas

It's not possible to rescreen he panel without removing the gauges, the are raised above the surface making the screening impossible.  It actually very easy to remove the gauges. Simply, press in (from the rear towards the front panel) and twist. Very similar to a child proof  cap.  Label each and you shouldn't have any issues.

Also, while the gauges are out, it's a good idea to remove and clean the lenses.  They too simply pop off (there are 2 pieces and a o ring).

I too have the 98 31 and it's easy a pie.

Just a suggestion. Take lots of close up pictures of the wiring with your digital camera. It will save you lots of headaches. I have seen lots of re-connection errors by people doing just what you want to do. Also make sure the battery switches are off. Sparks and arcs are not good.  Capt. George
