I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. After purchasing a 31 Open 4 years ago, I sold that one to my brother (wanted to keep it in the family!) and purchased a 1998 41 Open. I absolutely love the 41 and am thrilled to have moved up. Great boat I live in Baltimore city and do all of my cruising in the chesapeake bay. Hopefully there are other Tiara owners in the area. Would love to know if there are ever any get togethers or the such. Thanks

Thanks for the welcome. Yeah I love the 41. I have the CAT 3208s. Bought the boat with 730 hours on them. I like the engines and they are super reliable, but a but under powered IMO. I love the fuel economy at cruise but was hoping to get a tiny but more speed. I cruise the boat at 2300 and stay in the 20.5-22 knot range.
M Having sold a few of them, is that pretty much standard with these boats and this power plant? Should I be getting more speed? I'm OT a speed freak but was hoping around 23k cruise. I don't want to push the engines too much so I kind of stay away from above the 2400 RPM range.
Do you currently own a 41? As I said, I absolutely love the boat and everyone that sees her comments. It really is a beautiful, well made, great looking boat. If you have any operating experience with these boats, I'd love to hear any info you may be able to pass along. It's my first season with her and I'm still getting used to it. 22 Knots at 2300 RPM is respectable. 20 Knots is a bit light at that RPM. If you want to maximize the speed, clean bottom, clean running gear, clean fuel and filters, clean injectors and work the trim tabs for your given sea-conditions. All of that should get you 23 to 24 knots at 2300 RPM.
I never owned a 41, but I sold quite a few of them back in the day. I worked for the number one Tiara Dealer in the world for 14 years.
