I recently purchased a low hour 2008 Sovran 43 with IPS drives. When bringing it to a plane, the port engine or drive does not keep up with the strbd. drive and cannot get on a plane. I have to bring both engine RPM to 800 and start again slowly. After a bit of squealing (possibly belts) it will synch to a plane. The tensioners have been recently updated to metal and I would think that the yard would have replaced the belts at that time. Thanks

I believe a slipping belt is keeping the compressor (supercharger) from generating low end boost. Without the low end boost the engine will suffer very slow acceleration until the turbo kicks in. If I'm not mistaken the compressor is driven off the water pump and the load of the compressor causes That belt to slip. Not sure if your tensioner has an adjustment of if you need a belt (or both). Maybe someone who knows these engines can chime in. Otherwise boatdiesel.com is a good place to get specific help and information.

Thank you for that information. I will look into it, but you are correct about waiting for the turbo to kick in.
