Im new to the Tiara family and love my new boat. I know at some point I will need to remove the engine hatches to access something deep in the bilge. Is there a recommended procedure to remove the hatches safely with out using a crane?
Done that. Open and secure the center hatch. Raise the port hatch about one foot and put a 2x4 across the deck under the hatch. Lower the hatch on the 2x4 and remove the ram bolt. Lower the ram. Remove the hinge nuts and bolts. Slide the hatch aft on the 2x4. Repeat on the stbd side. The fun is reassembly, getting the bolts in the holes. Use a Phillips screwdriver to align the holes. Capt. The seating units un-bolt from the hatches. I would remove them first, this will make the deck sections light enough to maneuver with a couple of people. Then follow Capt. Georges advice.
