Better Engine Access on a 3600 Open
#1
I was wondering if anyone had advice on gaining better engine access. I have been replacing raw water pumps and alternators on my 3600 Open and it is all I can do to squeeze into the fwd outboard corners of my engine room. I have Cat 3208's. I was wondering if anyone is releasing the hatch rams and raising the hatch higher. I'm not sure how I would lift it except maybe raise it and block it off and add ram extenders. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Depending on how much work you have to do, you can unbolt the seats and slide them back into the cockpit, release the rams and then lift it as high as you want to. I have a friend that that has removed the hatch all together and worked in the engine compartment all winter without having to deal with the constant bending over and lack of reach. Took him a few hours to take it off and then a few hours to reassemble but it was worth it for all of the work he did.
